Rod Holders – Multitasking With Ease

Fishing as an activity is marked by various collective actions which include mounting the lure on the hook, clearing the hook and angling using the pole and removing the catch while unhooking the fish from the hook. It is thus impossible for the angler to hold on to his fishing rod while attempting to do all the above. In such a situation it becomes necessary for the fisher to have both his hands free. As they say, necessity is the mother of all invention. Thus, to necessitate the use of both hands while fishing, rod holders were invented. These not only facilitate the angler practically while fishing, they also provide a safe and organized storage space for fishing rods when not in use.

Initially, rod holders were designed with straps so as to tie the pole to the railing of the boat. A Velcro strap was also provided to allow the rod holder to be strapped to the fisher’s leg. Nowadays, rod holders are attached to the boat directly so that the angler is able to place the rod in the middle of the fishing vehicle safely. Unattached rod holders are also available however these are not very efficient because they tend to sway away with the swinging motion of the boat.

Thus to make fishing more relaxing and leisurely, investing in a good rod holder is necessary and appropriate.
