History Of Halloween And Evolution Of Halloween Costumes

The early Celtics believed that 31st October, now days called Halloween, the border line between the living beings and the departed vanished, and the deceased become dangerous causing many problems such as illness and spoilt crops, thus harming the living beings. The celebrations would often involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered farm animals were thrown. The costumes(Halloween Costumes) including masks being worn at the festival of Halloween goes back to the Celts customs of attempting to duplicate the evil spirits or pacify them, for instance in Scotland where the deceased were impersonated by young males wearing masks or blackened faces and also few dressed in white.

Dressing up with proper Halloween costumes became popular for parties in early 1900’s in America, as often for grown up adults as for children. The first produced Halloween costumes in massive amount appeared in the 1930’s in stores when trick or treating became popular in the United States, where it is celebrated by people of all ages and sections in all parts of the country and also in Europe. The costumes worn on Halloween are traditionally those of monsters such as ghosts, skeletons, devils, also of the popular cartoon ‘The Adam’s Family’, and the witch costume being the best choice for girls.
